Toronto Light Festival

torontolightfest-7254323 If you’re
looking to go out this Valentines Day, then take a stroll to the historic Distillery District
to see the first ever Toronto Light Festival !  The light festival will feature 21 light art installations from local and international artists creating a visual journey throughout the neighbourhood.   The festival finds

its inspiration from light art festivals all around the world such as Burning Man and the Amsterdam Light Festival.  “We

wanted to create something special and something that will lift the collective spirit of the city’ said Matthew Rosenblatt, creator and executive director of

the Toronto Light Festival.

is that the Toronto Light Festival has set up a Go Fund Me for The Yonge Street Mission.  Their goal is to raise $10,000

for the charity and as donations are made, two light cannons at the festival will shift to move their beams closer and closer together.  Eventually the beams will cross, lighting up

the night in celebration of reaching their goal with the help of the community.

light sculpture called Angels of Freedom
will raise funds for the Daily Bread Food Bank. This piece invites viewers to take a photo in front of the digital angel
wings and post online to social media with the hashtag #MillStLights.  Mill Street Brewery will donate $1 for each
post. img_0263-7410940 After a
fun-filled evening taking in the beautiful installations, why not head to Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie for a romantic French dinner afterwards!
